Marijino Celje Pilgrimage centre is located above the village of Lig on a 676 m high hill on the Kanalski Kolovrat Ridge. It is a part of the Path of the Three Temples connecting three St. Mary’s temples: Mt. Sveta gora on the edge of the Banjška planota Plateau and Marijino Celje Pilgrimage centre above the village of Lig in Slovenia and the Castelmonte Monastery (Stara Gora) above the city of Cividale in Italy.
In front of the church, you can enjoy in splendid views of the Julian Alps to the north with Mt. Krn in the forefront. When the weather conditions are good, you can also notice Mt. Triglav in the background. If you look to the west, you can admire Mt. Matajur. To the south, the view of the Goriška brda Region is blocked by the highest peak of the Kanalski Kolovrat Ridge (Mt. Korada), however, when you look down the Soča Valley towards the city of Nova Gorica, you can notice the Adriatic Sea in the background. If you leave the church and start following the mountain ridge road leading from the village of Lig to the Goriška brda Region, you can also admire other parts of the central Soča Valley and the Friuli Lowlands.

Cross the bridge across the Soča River in the centre of Kanal, continue straight ahead under the railway bridge and then turn left towards the village of Gorenja vas. After a short ascent along the local road, turn to the right when your reach the marking. After another short ascent, you will arrive to a small bridge across the creek where you will find a sign indicating the hiking trail. From here, start following hiking markings to the Marijino Celje Pilgrimage centre.

You can also start this tour in Park Pečno in the vicinity of the town of Kanal: Take a walk through the park and continue along the marked Path of the Three Temples to the Marijino Celje Pilgrimage centre.
