Description
Mt. Hoč is a pyramid-shaped peak above the village of Petrovo Brdo, which offers much more than its appearance indicates. You would expect that it is not possible to ski down this forest-covered peak. On the contrary, it is quite comfortable to ski through the thin beech forest towards the north, along the way you came from, or along the long and pretty steep clearing to the east towards the Podhočar Farm.

You can reach the Podhočar Farm from the village of Petrovo Brdo along a narrow road which occasionally steeply ascends and connects a few lonely farms. You can start this tour wherever you want above Petrovo Brdo. There is no parking available along the road, however, there are a couple of passing places with limited space (one or two vehicles).

The starting point of this tour is located beneath the Plašajtar Farm (approx. 1 km from Petrovo Brdo). You will notice a sign directing you towards Mt. Porezen. The signs will take you through the forest and to the ridge between Mt. Hoč and the peak called Pohoški kup. When you arrive to the ridge, you will be able to enjoy in splendid views of the summits above the Baška grapa Valley. Turn to the left and ascend through the forest to the top of Mt. Hoč. The unvegetated top will reward you with marvellous views to all four directions.

You should ski down the same way you came from.

Directions

Start the tour in the village of Petrovo Brdo, continue along the road for another kilometre and park your vehicle at an appropriate place next to the road. The tour follows the markings for Mt. Porezen all the way to the ridge between Mt. Hoč and Mt. Porezen. When you reach the mountain pass beneath the peak called Pohoški kup, turn to the left into the forest and choose the optimal direction of your ascent. You should ski down the same way you came from.
