Description

Straža (646 m) stretches on the southern side of Lake Bled and is the most known and the most popular hill around Bled with a long tourist tradition. Back in the day, Arnold Rikli, a healer and the promoter of Bled tourism, held his programmes on this very hill. Straža can be accessed from several paths with different starting points around the hill. Here you will find the so-called Bled Lakeside Fitness Trail and an adrenaline park* on the upper plane. Straža offers a small ski slope with a ski lift and a chair lift. The latter runs almost throughout the whole year. Visitors have the chance to go tobogganing. Due to easy access via the chair lift, Straža is a popular choice for many visitors looking for the perfect shot of Bled with its surroundings. At the lower chair lift station, you will find an activity and amusement centre especially for the younger generations.

*Adrenaline park is temporarily closed.

Directions

LAKESIDE PROMENADE - ŽELEČE- STRAŽA - LOWER CHAIR LIFT STATION AT STRAŽA - LAKESIDE PROMENADE

Start at the Lakeside Promenade and follow Cesta svobode street beneath the Park Hotel which brings you to the Bled Shopping Centre. From there, go past Hotel Kompas on Cankarjeva cesta street to the intersection with Želeška cesta street (Straža signposts) and take a right turn through the Želeče settlement with many tourism units (B&B) until you reach the carpark at the Straža lower chair lift station. Just before the carpark turn left onto the trail up the hill above Villa Ciklama. At each of the two crossroads take a right turn until you reach a smaller rocky barrier. On the right you will see a passage (stone steps) leading to the viewpoint with a shed on the Želeče Straža. From there, turn right towards the ski slope in the west; after several dozen metres turn left onto the Bled Lakeside Fitness Trail that will take you to the upper plane. On the left, bypass the adrenaline park and the path will take you by Rikli monument on the southwestern and western rim of Straža to the upper chair lift station where you reach the top of Straža with its built infrastructure. The way down will take you to the lower chair lift station and from there you will get to the carpark after a short uphill walk. When walking back, take Želeška and Cankarjeva cesta streets again that will take you to the Lakeside Promenade in the centre of Bled.
