- Description
-
Lake Bled is a glacial lake and the only lake in Slovenia with an island. The path around the lake is one of the most popular walks. The path around the lake is well maintained, undemanding and tends to be crowded, especially at the weekends. It is 6 km long and suitable for a light exercise, walk or jogging. You can start the path around the lake at any point. The path is well maintained and will take you onto a paved road, gravel walking path and a short boardwalk just above the water level. There are plenty of benches along the path where you can sit down, relax and take in the natural beauty and observe animal life at the lake.
*WARNING: During the construction works of the pedestrian pavement in Mlino, a complete closure is in force on the part of the circular route around Lake Bled, on the section between the Mlino harbour and the Villa Beli dvor by the tunnel. More >

LAKESIDE PROMENADE - BENEATH THE CASTLE - VELIKA ZAKA - MLINO - LAKESIDE PROMENADE
The path around the lake is usually started at the lake’s eastern shore at the Lakeside Promenade beneath the Congress Hall or at the nearby Zdraviliški Park beneath Hotel Jelovica or the parish church of St Martin. You walk counter clockwise all the time. The path takes you near the lake to the Public Lido. From here take the road in the pedestrian area which leads via the northern side of the lake beneath rock on which the castle stands to the Olympic Rowing Centre in Mala Zaka. Continue on the road to Velika Zaka – the finish line for the well-known Bled rowing route. From here take the designated visitors’ path on the boardwalk above the water level and beneath Vila Bled to reach the village of Mlino. The last third of the path around the lake takes you on the southern side of the lake and there is a designated path for visitors between the road and the lake. If you take this road, you will end up at the Lakeside Promenade in the town centre.
