- Description

Hom elevates on the northern side of the village of Zasip and on the north-eastern side of the settlement of Podhom. The lower part of the hill’s southern slopes above the villages is covered by extensive pastures, otherwise Hom is thick with forests. The northern slopes descend sharply, in some parts precipitously, all the way to the Radovna river in the Vintgar Gorge. Only on the eastern edge of Hom the terrain somewhat levels out – there stands the Church of St. Catherine. A viewpoint, an event venue with an inn and playground are all located nearby. Visiting Hom is very popular among locals, and by visiting the Vintgar Gorge and the Church of St. Catherine the trip becomes a rounded up and rich experience on the northern edge of the Bled Corner. The peak of Hom is higher than any other hill around Bled. It is a peak covered with forests and does not offer wide panoramic views. There are plenty of views, however, on a path leading through southern slopes, where the Bled Corner, the Radovljica basin, the Jelovica and Pokljuka plateaus and the Julian Alps are in the palm of your hand. A registration book and a wooden cross can be found at the top of Hom.

LAKESIDE PROMENADE – ZASIP – ST. CATHERINE ABOVE ZASIP – HOM – PODHOM – ST. CATHERINE ABOVE ZASIP – LAKESIDE PROMENADE
From the Lakeside promenade we follow the Cesta svobode road to the bus station and from there through the settlement of Grad to the Partizanska cesta road junction. We follow this road until we reach the northern bypass. After crossing it, we keep following the Partizanska cesta road and continue on the main local road to the village of Zasip. When we arrive at the Pri Kureju inn, we follow the signposts uphill between the houses and then take the steep access road uphill to St. Catherine. Here we turn to the west and follow the forest road for a few 100 metres. On the edge of a larger meadow with a hunting stand we turn left uphill on a wide forest cart track. We follow it through the forest and ascend toward Hom on a wide ridge. On the way back we do not take other forest paths and well-trodden trails, but follow the signposts. A path leads to the top on the north-eastern slopes and elevates to the west, where we reach a smaller pass just under the top of Hom (signpost). From here, we turn right and there are just a few steps left to reach the top. We can double back following the same path, however, when descending our path leads further on to the west and descends steeply on a wide forest path toward the settlement of Podhom or to a part of the settlement named Vršce. Here, we turn left back to the east and follow a wide, grass-covered path leading across pastures above Podhom and Sebenje. After a quarter of an hour we arrive to the panoramic Podhom edge (a bench, info board), which is a very popular point for photographers. We continue on across pastures toward east all the way to the Church of St. Catherine, where we close the circular part of the path. We return to Bled along the same path through the village of Zasip and then on the Partizanska cesta road all the way to the centre of Bled.
