Description

This trip will test all the skills of long-distance cyclists: endurance, sense of orientation and adventure-planning.  The route running through magnificent forests of the Jelovica and Pokljuka plateaus, and passing by amazing panoramic views and a unique landscape will not leave you unmoved. In addition to all unforgettable impressions, we will all be satisfied and proud of ourselves when the day is over.

Directions
BLED - KORITNO - LANCOVO - GOŠKA RAVAN MOUNTAIN PASTURE - DANEJEVA PLANINA - KUPLJENIK - BOHINJSKA BELA - GALETOVEC - POKLJUŠKA SOTESKA - KRNICA - GRABČE - VIŠELNICA - PODHOM - ZASIP - BLED

From Bled we head toward the village of Koritno, where we descend to the Sava Dolinka river. We follow the river toward the confluence with the Sava Bohinjka river and take the dirt road, cart track in some parts, toward the Bodeški most bridge. After crossing the bridge we turn toward Radovljica, where in the settlement of Lancovo we turn right at the triangular intersection and riding on a partly steep slope we reach the top of the edge of the old glacial Sava riverbed, which is adorned by the church of Saint Lamberta on our left. A twisty section of the trail will bring us to a small valley, where begins a 6 km long ascent with a moderate incline up to the Goška ravan mountain pasture. When we reach the mountain pasture we can have something to eat and drink at the mountain hut, if open, otherwise we will have some snacks from our backpacks.

We continue our path along a forest road along the northern edge of the Jelovica plateau to the Danejeva planina mountain pasture (“Danejeve mlake” on some maps).  At the large intersection we turn right crossing an open gate toward the highest point of our trip - 1020 metres above sea level. This is followed by an attractive long descent to the village of Kupljenik and on toward the Bled - Bohinj trunk road. When we arrive on the road we turn right and cross it after a few metres toward the junction leading to the bridge over the Sava Bohinjka river toward Bohinjska Bela. A fairly steep ascent awaits us until we reach Bohinjska Bela. When we reach the village we turn left on the main road through the village and continue our path to the hamlet of Podklanec, where we turn right at the junction up toward Pokljuka.

We ascend on Pokljuka (Planina za Jamo) on a dirt road.  The ascent is long and steep in some parts. At approximately 800 metres above sea level we take a sharp left turn toward mount Galetovec at a well-marked turn. A very steep section leading to the Planina za Jamo mountain pasture is now before us. At the end of the incline, we continue our ride across the Planina za Jamo mountain pasture on a nice forest road to the Gorjuše - Mrzli studenec paved road. On this road we turn right and ride upwards for 2 km, after which we turn right at the junction for the Belska planina mountain pasture.

Passing Belska planina we continue riding on a forest road. After Belska planina there is a junction marked for accessing mount Galetovec on foot.  We continue on a forest road which runs evenly at approximately 1200 metres above sea level. As we approach Zatrnik the road starts to descend. We arrive to the Gorje - Rudno Polje regional road. We turn right and down. After approximately 600 metres we turn left to a forest road junction leading above the Pokljuka gorge. The road goes up and down. At the first junction we turn right and down, and follow a nice path that gradually becomes steeper until we enter the Pokljuka gorge.

From the Pokljuka gorge we ride into the village of Krnica, where we reach the Gorje - Rudno polje road. We turn left and ride to the bus station where we turn off the road to the left toward the settlement of Grabče. At the first junction we turn right toward the settlement of Višelnica and ride on the Beekeeping trail to Spodnje Gorje and to the road. When we reach the road we turn left and ride by the Fortuna inn and turn right at the intersection following the signpost for the Vintgar Gorge. The path takes us past the junction for the Vintgar Gorge on the right down the slope. At the end of the slope we turn right and immediately left behind a house on a path reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. We ride along this path until we reach a road that turns right under a railway bridge.  After the bridge we immediately turn left and ride through the settlement of Sebenje, passing the shop until we reach an intersection.

In order to conclude the ring trail we need to ascend mount Hom and after reaching the top we descend on the other side on an unpaved and then paved road until we reach the settlement of Muže. Above the settlement we continue riding keeping on the left in order to turn into a narrow dirt road and follow it between houses under the village.  We cross the road after Piškovca and continue on a cart track along the edge of meadows and fields until the road turns right toward a small forest in the middle of the field. We turn toward the forest and then left at the first junction. We continue on the path to the settlement of Dindol. We ride straight ahead to the Kajuhova cesta road until we reach our starting point in front of the Triglavska Roža Bled Infocenter.

Tips
We can stop for refreshments in Bohinjska Bela and Gorje.

Take advantage of the access to the panorama on mount Galetovec, which is most comfortable if taken from the junction under Belska planina (marked with a signpost).
