Cividale del Friuli with the way of the Lombards, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The city is a real gem, rich in works of art. These can be seen at the Archaeological Museum and at the Museum of the Cathedral. The Lombard temple is one of the most straordinare and mysterious monuments of the late Middle Ages in the West. The road of this stage leads first to Carraria, where, once you reach the Church of San Rocco, you have to turn right and continue onto Via Druga and then onto Via della Fornaz until you reach Fornalis. There you have to cross the SP. 53, keep going on Via Darnazzacco and then keep to the left to take Strada del Sponseot. Once you are in Gagliano turn left onto Via Andrea Doria and continue up to a intersection where you have to turn right onto Strada del Prepotto until you reach Bivio Romanutti. About 100 meters after the intersection with the SP. 48 turn left on the beaten path that leads to Bucovizza. From here follow the Strada di Albana until you reach Centa and then, through the route n. 748, turn right and walk towards Albana. After crossing the river Iudrio you reach Mernicco; there you follow the stairs of the Church and then the paved road until you finally reach the Slovenian border and the village of Breg.
