The village is located at 560 metres above sea level in a tranquil location at the foot of Kellerjoch mountain. With its 2,400 residents, Buch in Tirol is an insider's tip for relaxing holidays - far away from any hustle and bustle. The unhurried municipality offers some hidden places where you can experience nature up close. On a hike in this seemingly unremarkable village you'll discover many a unique specimen not to be found a second time in all of Tirol.
Along the Bible trail you'll embark on a wonderful journey into the past. For example, you'll come across the largest spruce tree in Tirol, the Notburga Chapel, the Rottenburg Castle ruins and the Buch waterfall. In the Middle Ages, these places were centres for nobility and aristocrats as well as the economic hub and administrative centre of Tirol. In the 13th century, St. Notburga spent about 20 years as a maidservant with the Rottenburg Counts. In honour of St. Notburga, the Notburga path was created.
