Donovaly - Kalište - Donovaly

The route starts in the centre of Donovaly at the local information centre. Cross the wooden bridge over the main road to Smrekovec Cottage and continue towards the settlements of Bully and Polianka. At the linden trees at the top, continue on the asphalt road towards the settlement of Bully. At its end, join a forest cycle path which will take you to the locality of Pri javore. From this crossroads, go straight across the field following the blue and red cycle signs and enter the forest again.

After a while, the forest path will be replaced by pebble-rocky terrain which can be treacherous in places during a steep descent. Be careful and ride down the hill more slowly. Especially on nice sunny days, a larger number of tourists and other cyclists move around there.

Continue to the barrier and a few metres behind it, on the right, you will see a turn to Kalište National Cultural Monument. There is a memorial as well as the beginning of the nature trail with information boards, where you can read the whole sad story of the last day of the villagers´ lives.

The way back to Donovaly leads the same way but you can choose another route. Below Hrubý vrch, after the end of ascent from Kalište, continue along the yellow cycle route to the right along the forest and at the signpost head towards Polianka. After a few hundred metres, the yellow cycle route joins the green one, along which continue to Polianka. You will return to the centre of Donovaly on the asphalt road.
