- Description

A little flat part can not do any harm in the middle of all its passes dotting the Route des Grandes Alpes! Between fortifications and multiple invitations to approach the National Park of Vanoise, you will have some pretexts to take breaks on this stage.
Thirty kilometers in a slight descent and relatively straight in the heart of the Maurienne Valley leads you to some pretty villages: Sollières-Sardières, Bramans, Avrieux or even Aussois on the heights if you want to offer a small detour.
Then at the foot of the balconies of the Vanoise, you will see many surrounding peaks and pass close to several forts including the impressive "Barrière de l'Esseillon" and its 5 forts before joining Saint-Michel de Maurienne, bottom of the ascent of the Telegraph Pass (1566m).
Although it is not very long, you will have to keep energy for the ascension of the Telegraph which still presents some portions to almost 10%. After riding in the forest for the climb of the pass, you will take a pretty road in slightly downhill balcony and ideal to enjoy the landscape, before joining Valloire, a charming station-village !
