The largest European Nordic area, the reputation of the Jura massif in this area goes well beyond borders.
Over sixty kilometres, the Bellefontaine area offers skiers a wide choice of slopes, from the sporty to the contemplative, through varied landscapes.
Straddling the plateau of Risoux, the plateau of Lakes, and that of Chaux Mourant, its geographical location allows it to communicate easily with the neighboring areas of Morbier, Chapelle des Bois, and Les Rousses.
The Great Crossing of the Jura on Cross-Country Skiing
Whether you practice cross-country skiing or more sporty cross-country skiing, the Grande Traversée du Jura cross-country ski tour is a beautiful flight of 175 km long, unique in France. It runs from the Val de Morteau in the Doubs to Giron in the Ain, crossing the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park and the high places of cross-country skiing in the Jura. It also offers an incursion into Switzerland.
