Innovations St. Anton am Arlberg
Closing the loop: new Arlberg cableway link between Zürs and Stuben/Rauz!
The Flexenbahn cableway will make skiing from winter 2016/17 even more varied and comfortable at the Arlberg. With the help of the new link between Zürs and Stuben/Rauz, skiers will be able to reach all ski locations on the Arlberg easily with their skis on. That will make the Arlberg skiing area the largest contiguous skiing area in Austria!
Ski resort St. Anton am Arlberg
The Tyrolean village of St. Anton am Arlberg offers unlimited sporting and relaxation activities against a backdrop of prominent peaks.
Those arriving in winter enter a superlative snowy paradise which enjoyed international renown long before the Alpine Ski World Championships were held here in 2001. 87 mountain railways and lifts grant skiers and snowboarders access to 305 km of groomed slopes and 200 km of deep powder runs. Tourists are free to ski from morning till night on a variety of different slopes without having to use the same lift system once – virtually unique in a European ski resort. The steep escarpment on the Schindler Kar, the runs on Galzig, Gampen or Kapall, on the Valluga or the Rendl even elicit the praise of fans who grew up with boards and skis.
Guests will find all the amenities indispensable to a modern winter sporting arena in St. Anton am Arlberg. This Tyrolean mountain village with around 2,500 inhabitants, satisfies the most discerning of modern guests, while retaining a great deal of its originality and traditional charm.
Stylish euphoria in St. Christoph am Arlberg
Small, original and attractive. St. Christoph am Arlberg is, at 1,800 m, one of the highest alpine ski resorts, a large, but cosy ski hut with 700 guest beds.
St. Christoph am Arlberg was made famous by a shepherd in the 14th century, Heinrich Findelkind from Kempten, who erected it as a protective shelter against the force of the elements.
Today, St. Christoph am Arlberg consists of several hotels and guesthouses. In the evening, guests gather in the old-fashioned inns, where new friendships and happy memories are formed over a hearty meal, good wine and a lot of laughter.
Arlberg cableway link in winter 2016/17!
The loop closes!
Skiing on the Arlberg will then be even more fun! The new cableway link on the Vorarlberg side of the Arlberg, between Zürs and Stuben/Rauz, as well as the new cableways to be constructed in 2016 – the Trittkopfbahn I and II and Albonabahn II cableways – are closing the loop. From Zürs, Trittkopfbahn I leads to the new intermediate station, from where skiers may either continue to the new top station of Trittkopfbahn II or use the new Flexenbahn to carry on to Alpe Rauz in Stuben. From here, the other new cableway, Albonabahn II, will invite skiers to continue to Stuben. In addition, skiers starting out from Alpe Rauz can conveniently explore the St. Christoph and St. Anton skiing areas. This means that all resorts of the Arlberg skiing area – St. Anton and St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech, Oberlech as well as Schröcken and Warth – will be easily and comfortably accessible on skis. With the new cableway link, skiers on the Arlberg – Austria’s largest contiguous skiing area – will have easy access to a total of 305 km of downhill slopes and 87 lifts and cableways. This guarantees an incredible dimension of skiing fun!
