- Description
-
The Kanisfluh is one of the most beautiful and well-known panoramic mountains in the Bregenzerwald area, with fantastic panoramic mountain views.
Even if you start in the early hours of the morning to experience a sunrise on the Kanisfluh, it's worth getting out of bed early. Another impressive spectacle is the sunset on the Kanisfluh. As the sun slowly sets, the alpenglow begins in the direction of the Arlberg.
All sunrises and sunsets are unique. The sunrise or sunset hike is a very special experience combined with unforgettable moments and memories.
- Directions
-
Depending on the sunrise time, the hike starts between 3.30 a.m. and 5.00 a.m. or between 5.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. depending on the sunset time. The ascent by car is via Au to Alpe Öberle, where there is a free parking spot. From there the march starts past the Edelweißhütte along a footpath to Alpe Obere. Once there, keep to the right of the path up the southern slope to the deep, fairly wide saddle. From there it goes east over the ridge to the summit of the Kanisfluh at 2047m above sea level, from where you have a wonderful all-round view of the Bregenzerwald. The ascent time is between 1.5 - 2 hours. Arrived at the top and provided the weather is right, you can now experience a fantastic sunrise or sunset. You return on the same route (descent time approx. 1 - 1.5 hours). The crowning glory of a beautiful sunrise is the traditional and universally popular alpine breakfast in the Edelweiß alpine inn.

- Tips

The Alpengasthof Edelweiß is a great stop for ambitious hikers who want to conquer the summit of the Kanisfluh. The Alpengasthof Edelweiß can look back on more than 100 years of history. The former building was destroyed by an avalanche in 1954 and rebuilt at a different location.
