- Description
-
This snowy loop crosses the vast Campo Carlo Magno highland. Starting from the cross-country trails, the itinerary heads out into the open beyond the woods in an area that gets lots of sun all day long. Once you have passed Malga Mondifrà, the trail heads into a beautiful, dense forest of European spruce and silver fir as well as larch. When you reach Malga Vaglianella, head down through the woods in a loop that will take you back to the start.
Malga Mondifrà is a great place for a relaxing break as you enjoy a hot beverage or local alpine delicacies.
- Directions
-
This circular route starts from the Cross-Country Ski Centre in Campo Carlo Magno. Follow the marked route, taking care not to be on the cross-country ski slopes. The route goes over an initial undulating path to Malga Mondifrà, 1.632m (25 min), where it leaves the wide pastures and goes into the forest. Climb easily up the ridge on the left side of Valgelada until you reach Malga Vaglianella , 1.862m (30 min). From the Malga, which is the outer limit of the circuit, head south and descend the Tovo di Vagliana, at the end of which you meet the cross-country ski slope again (25 min). Follow the same track used for the outward journey back to the Cross-Country Ski Centre (25 min).

Experience walking along irregular mountain trails is recommended. In the event of fresh snow, snowshoes are also recommended. Be careful of ice when temperatures are particularly low. As you might imagine, the accessibility of these mountain trails depends entirely on the conditions found at any given time, such as the weather and other natural and environmental conditions.
