From the parking lot on the east bank of the Hintersteiner See (890 m) at the Café Restaurant Seestüberl, take the north bank along the road no. 822 until you reach Pension Maier. Just before Pension Maier, turn left and follow the signs to Seestüberl (path no. 822) until you get to the hiking trail on the south bank of the lake. The path runs through the forest alternately up and down and brings you back to the starting point Café Restaurant Seestüberl on the east bank. There is also the bus stop for the hiking bus Hintersteiner See, which runs several times a day from Scheffau to the lake and back during summer months.
Baby strollers: only on the north bank; the paved path from Seestüberl to Pension Maier is accessible with baby strollers.
Refreshment stops on the route: The Seestüberl restaurant is located on the eastern bank of the Hintersteiner See. If you walk alongside the road on the north bank, you’ll pass the Goingstätt refreshment stop. From there, the Maier refreshment stop is also just a few minutes away. - Directions

From the car park on the eastern bank of the Hintersteiner See lake at 890 m, you follow the road heading west (no. 822), with sweeping views of the summits of the Scheffauer, Hackenköpfe and Wiesberg to the Sonneck. Above the Schneekar cirque you can see the mighty summits of the Treffauer and the Tuxeck mountains. Continue on the hiking trail along the southern bank from where you can have a wonderful view of the fish in the crystal-clear water. After a short climb you're soon back at the starting point where there’s a bus stop for the lake bus which runs several times a day in summer from Scheffau to the lake and back.
Possible refreshment stops:
the Seestüberl restaurant is located on the eastern bank of the Hintersteiner See. If you carry on along the road following the signs to Westufer, you’ll pass the Goingstätt refreshment stop. The Maier refreshment stop is just a few metres away. - Highest point

Heading from Wörgl, Kufstein or St. Johann on the B178 road, take the exit to Scheffau and drive through the village as you continue in the direction of the Hintersteiner See. The hiking starting point and the pay & display car park are located next to the Seestüberl restaurant on the eastern bank of the lake.
