- Description
-
The 7 kilometer loop leads from Oetz north to Sautens and back. The asphalt and gravel roads are easy to drive. Even on hot summer days, a cool breeze always blows in the bank area of the Ache, which is fed by numerous glaciers. In addition, rows of trees on the secluded riverside path provide shade. Anyone who has experienced the river once in spring during the snowmelt knows about its destructive power. In earlier years the raging Ache often flooded and devastated the valley. Today, numerous fortifications ensure the safety of local residents. On the tour, the chances are good that you will see kayakers and rafting boats on their lurching journey.
- Directions
-
The starting point for this family-friendly pleasure tour is the central car park in Oetz. There is also a bike bus stop right next to the car park (Oetz municipal office). Leave the car park on the left and follow the paved path along the Ache for approx. 500 m to the intersection of Piburger Strasse. There you cross the street and drive past the Aktiv and Nature Resort on the paved meadow path. This leads straight through the meadows to the Ötztaler Ache. At the end you turn right on the gravel road, past a small chapel. The path leads a short distance parallel to the main road to a wooden bridge. On this bridge you cross the Ötztaler Ache. Then continue to the right along the Ache and cross the federal road. Then it goes back through the village of Sautens and along the Beerweg back towards Oetz. This path ends in Piburger Straße. Follow this approx. 500 m to the intersection with Achrainweg. Here you turn right and follow the Achrainweg back to the starting point at the central car park in Oetz.
This round can also be mastered very well from Sautens!
