- Description

After the first two strenuous stages, a more relaxed section awaits you on tour number 3 from the Bergkämmen near Friedrichroda to Oberhof.
.You start at the Spie;berghaus and hike towards S Ebertswiese. After about 5 km, you will pass the Pirschkopf and the quarry in the Spittergrund and reach the Berghotel (currently closed) at the beautiful mountain meadow. At the not far away Neue Ausspanne near Tambach-Dietharz, hardy people can already have their first Thüringer Bratwurst in the morning. The local snack bar is a real recommendation. The modern Rennsteig House offers bikers and hikers public sanitary facilities, a rest area and a small workshop for repairs.
From the Nesselberg, the trail descends to the Weidensuhlswiese meadow and continues through the dense forest to the Sperrhügel. Past the Neuhöfer Wiese you will soon reach the Wachsenrasen and the Hoher Schorn lookout tower.
You soon meet the asphalted roller track of the Skisportzentrum am Grenzadler. The competition courses for biathletes and cross-country skiers run here. At the end of the tour, the Gasthof "Thüringer Hütte" and the Schanzenbaude await. Those who still have energy at the end of the tour can descend to Oberhof and take the path through the competition area along the sports stadiums.
