- Description
-
The hiking trail leads in a wide arc from Koglhof up to Sallegg and back again on the other side of the Almenland Panorama Road.
You start at the summer toboggan run, where there is also a refreshment stop. The route then continues to St. Georgen with its church worth seeing and on to Aschau, a beautiful village with magnificent farms. There the ascent begins through the forest up to Sallegg. Unfortunately, the Obi Hansl hut is no longer open there, so there is now no place to stop for refreshments.
At the country road, we keep to the left and walk back down to Koglhof. The last section of the trail leads along the Waldlehrtpfad (forest nature trail) and the Kreuzweg (Stations of the Cross) into the centre of the village. Past the Augsten Inn and the parish church, we reach the starting point again at the summer toboggan run/GH Rodelstub'n.
- Directions
-
We start at the summer toboggan run. The Genussrundwanderweg also runs with the toboggan run at the beginning.
A footbridge crosses a romantic little stream.
The forest path finally runs next to the farm of the Übleis family straight up to the panorama road.
Now turn right and follow the asphalt road for about 350 metres to the well-signposted junction at the "Weghofer" farm.
Walk in the direction of St. Georgen/Aschau along trail no. 15.
The asphalt road leads to the organic herb farm shop "Kremel" and soon we reach St. Georgen, where the oldest church in the upper Feistritz Valley and the rustic Grünbichler inn await us.
The trail continues in a north-westerly direction (trail no. 11+15) up to the "Bachbauer" farm. Pass through the farm and continue on the asphalt road to the "Klein-Bachbauer" farmstead and the next farmstead "Lechenbauer".
Continue in a northerly direction to the farm of the Kandlbauer family, there we walk up through the farm to the "Bründlbauer".
Here we turn right and climb along shady forest paths up to Sallegg.Shortly before the intersection with the country road ("Almenland Panoramastraße"), we come to the "Franzl in Sallegg" farmstead.
For the way back down to Koglhof, take trail no. 22, which runs parallel to the main road.
At the "Weghofer Cross" on the main road, we turn right down into trail no. 15 and now reach the "Forest Nature Trail".
Along the Stations of the Cross, we descend to the village centre to the church and continue to the starting point at the summer toboggan run. - Highest point
