Directions

From the center of the market town of Anger, we first hike eastwards past the outdoor pool to the tracks of the Feistritztalbahn, which we cross.
Leaving the settlement area of Anger, the route continues slightly uphill through the so-called Märchenwald forest to the Forellengasthof Holzerbauer.
A few meters after the Forellgasthof, we reach a short section of forest again, where the path initially turns off to the right. After leaving this forest, we come to a crossroads on a small local road, where we keep left and follow the rarely used road for just over 2 km.
Between two farms, we branch off to the left to reach the highest point of the stage at 929 m above sea level via a pleasant field path.
Past fields, through shady forests and across meadows, we now hike downhill towards Pöllau, the center of the Pöllau Valley Nature Park. On the opposite side of the valley, we are greeted and accompanied by the Pöllauberg pilgrimage church.
Along this section of the trail, you will also come across signs for the Hirschbirnweg trail. On the last few meters to the parish church, we come to the castle park, which used to be a recreation area for the Augustinian canons.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: Bundesforste https://www.bundesforste.at/english.html)

Hikers should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time. Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest. Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest! In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it. In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use.
