- Description

In the town of See in St. Marein near Neumarkt, as the name of the district shows, a silted lake was rebuilt. The lake is a destination worth seeing, not only because of the leisure activities in summer and winter, but simply because of the enormous scenic appeal. The lake is also located on an important north-south bird migration route near the Ramsauer nature reserve Hörfeld.
- Directions
-
From the town center of Mühlen, go north slightly uphill along the Görtschitzbach for about 4.5 km to the “Mooswiesen” intersection. There you turn right for about 1.3 km to the town of See. Directly in the vicinity of the chapel is the small but extremely romantic lake with the island accessible via a bridge. The Seestüberl invites you to stop by during the summer months.
From the town of See you walk 1.3 km back to the Mooswiesen intersection. At the left-hand bend, turn right and go through the high forest to the Kulm plateau. Here you have a wonderful view of the Zirbitzkogel massif and, to the west, the limestone massif of the Grebenze, whose southern hill is already in Carinthia. After about 2 km you come to Oberdorf, where you continue for about 1 km in the direction of Dörfling, where you turn left and cross the gentle ridge. After 600m you reach the turnoff to the right towards Hitzmannsdorf, which we reach after 1.3 km. Now only 1 km separates us from our starting point in Mühlen.
