- Description
-
The Stolzalpe is not only known for the general and orthopedic state hospital, but also for the many hours of sunshine - one reason why the first children's home for children suffering from tuberculosis was built here in 1920. The Stolzalpe location for orthopedic medicine and the rehabilitation clinic is now known far beyond the borders of Styria.
Our "health-promoting" snowshoe tour leads through this forested area that towers over Murau, up to the Stolzalpe summit and past the chapel.
- Directions
-
From the starting point at the parking lot of house 2 on the Stolzalpe, follow the yellow sign towards Stolzalpe. The route goes uphill along the forest road, with a beautiful view of the upper Murtal. At the next two forks in the road, keep first right and then left until you come to a small ravine from the forest road. In parts it goes through a dense spruce forest, following the markings and alternating between the forest road and hiking trails. In between you can look out into the Rantental and towards Krakow until you reach the chapel below the summit (at 1,810 m) on a short, steep stretch. From here it's not far to the forest-free summit with a great view. We go back the same way.
