- Description
-
Starting from the train station in Ehrenhausen, the tour first runs through the Murauen floodplains to Spielfeld. From Spielfeld, the route then continues along the vineyard-clad hillsides in the direction of the South Styrian Wine Road. In addition to the many excellent Buschenschänken (wine taverns) dotted along the way, there is also a remarkable viewing platform on the Platschberg/Pac in Slovenia - the perfect spot for taking a break. Along the South Styrian Wine Road, the Wine Road Tour Variant 2 continues on to the Sultztal valley and Glanz, and via the Sernauberg to Gamlitz. From there, it's a leisurely ride back to your starting point.
- Directions
-
The tour begins at Ehrenhausen train station, from where you will get onto the Murradweg towards Spielfeld. Once in Spielfeld, continue across the Murbrücke (bridge), leaving the Murradweg R2 behind. Carry on through Spielfeld and along the road accompanying the federal road, where the trail slowly begins to climb up to the Graßnitzberg. From Plac, the route runs past the Weingut Tement wine estate on the South Styrian Wine Road. White boundary marker stones accompany us for a couple of kilometers towards the municipality of Ratsch an der Weinstraße. After 12 km on the South Styrian Wine Road, we ride past the Lubekogel mountain and take the municipal roads to Gamlitz via Sernau, on our way back to where we started.

Tip: it never hurts to bring a basic set of tools and accessories with you, such as a replacement hose and/or repair kit, spanner, tire pump, braking and gearshift cable and a screwdriver.
There are numerous places to stop for refreshment along the tour, but please take a bottle of water with you nonetheless.
