- Description
-
What used to be a flourishing silver mining area is now a paradise for joggers, hikers and cyclists. This tour over the Krautwasch and the Silberberg leads the moderately ambitious mountain biker on asphalt and gravel roads and rewards them with a well-earned stop in the charming market town of Übelbach.
- Directions
-
The tour starts by going from Übelbach along Silberbergstrasse, and then Silberbergweg, to the former Hiedner snack bar on the Silberberg pass. The descent to Grossstübing offers a wonderful view over the Stübing valley, which is known for its scenic beauty and high quality of life, something which the Alpine longhorn beetle, native to the beech trees around Grossstübing, also appreciates. After a break in Grossstübing, the next mountain stage awaits: ride along the L315 road in the direction of Geisthal. At the former Abrahamwirt inn the paved Krautwaschweg leads up to the right and over the Kollerkogel to the (closed!) Krautwasch Alpine inn. Meadows, forests and mountains dominate the view as far as the eye can see. The Bockstallgrabenweg takes you to Neuhof, which is considered the "gate to the Gleinalm pastures". Follow the L385 back to Übelbach, where you`ll find numerous inns and restaurants ynd plenty of time to reminisce your favourite highlights of the Silberberg bike tour.
