- Description

From Eibiswald via Aibl on one side of the Radlpass road over the Auenberg to the Radlpass and on the other side via the fantastic Römerweg back to Eibiswald. In between, on the first half of the tour, there is a wonderful climb over the Auenberg, fantastic views of the Kapuner Kogel, a short single trail past "Luis' Büro" and finally a super awesome gravel section down to the Radlpass (take your passport with you). On the second half, the tour rolls pleasurably - with a short steep intermediate climb - via the Römerweg and Stammeregg back to Eibiswald. Unique views down to Eibiswald included. In a nutshell: Starting from Eibiswald, probably the most beautiful route to the Radlpass and back.
The "Auenberg-Radlpass-Tour" is the mountain bike tour of your choice if you want to
want to view and experience the wonderful landscape between Eibiswald and the Radplass from two sides: once to the west of the Radlpass road up the Auenberg and once to the east via the Römerweg and Stammeregg back again, want to enjoy fantastic views of the Kapuner Kogel from the Auenberg ascent, shortly after Luis' office, want to really savour super casual gravel roads on the Slovenian part of the loop for a few kilometres and let their legs hang out a bit, want to enjoy a good espresso at the border on the Radlpass before descending into the steep Römerweg (caution: very steep sections!), want to experience one of the original climbs of the Eibiswald mountain bike scene on the Radlpass as a downhill,as the last highlight of the tour from Stammeregg down to Eibiswald, get to know completely new views of Eibiswald, especially of the beautifully renovated Eibiswald Castle. - Directions
-
From the starting point at the church in Eibiswald, drive via the main square to Aibl. From there, head towards Hadernigg and St. Lorenzen.
200 metres before the classic St. Lorenzen climb, turn half-left into the Auenberg climb.
This is followed by a very varied, mostly moderately steep climb with several intermediate descents around the Auenberg to the junction at the "Marterl" above the Maritschi farm.
From this small junction, you ride briefly on the Nandlrunde. At Luis' office, the route turns sharply left into a forest path that leads over to the Slovenian gravel road.
At the junction with the gravel track, take the track to the left in an easterly direction down to the Radlpass, while the Nandlrunde continues to the right in a westerly direction.
From the Radplass, follow the route via the Römerweg down to Stammeregg and from there back directly to the starting point at the church in Eibiswald. - Highest point

- Equipment
-
Check your bike after every tour for air pressure, spoke tension and brake pads.
A helmet is a must for every bike tour.
Think in advance about what equipment you need to take with you: warm clothing, rain and wind protection, a repair kit and first aid kit should be in your rucksack, as well as a charged mobile phone.
- Safety instructions
-
Always drive at a controlled speed and at half visibility, especially on bends, as obstacles can be expected at any time (e.g. road damage, stones, branches, temporarily stored wood, grazing livestock, grazing grids, barriers, tractor-forestry machines, authorised persons' vehicles). Be considerate of other people, walkers and pedestrians. Only overtake at walking pace! Be aware of the difficulty of the route, accurately assess your experience and ability as a biker! Protect your head with a helmet and check your equipment (brakes, bell, lights) before every bike tour! Keep to barriers and please accept that some paths are primarily used for agricultural and forestry purposes!Be considerate of nature and wildlife, do not leave the marked route, refrain from riding off the open paths and finish your bike tour before dusk. Please do not leave any litter behind.
Attention: No liability! (*)
*) Mountain biking is a risky sport! The landowners, the Eibiswald cycling club, tourism association and municipalities accept no liability!
Some tours (see description) are "pure nature", the forest paths lead over roots, stones, streams, are partly washed out and are not maintained. Pushing and carrying passages are necessary depending on ability. We recommend private accident insurance or membership of the Alpine Club. Have fun!
