- Description

Sometimes simple is simply the best! And if the seasonal products on offer are also regional specialities that are lovingly produced by the farmers themselves and marketed directly, then a visit to the farm's own farm shop is definitely worthwhile. On the hiking tour, we introduce you to direct marketers from Unken who run their farms with all their heart and soul. They have united under the umbrella brand "Unken - weil's schmeckt" (Unken - because it tastes good) and they are united not only by their love of the region but also by the high quality of their handmade farm products. The specialities of fish, cow, goat, pig and local herbs are also sourced by regional restaurateurs and farm shops and can be found on many a menu in Unken.

On this 9.9-kilometre hike from the central starting point, you first walk along the Saalach river to the Köstlerbauern farm. Nestled in a beautiful basin in Unken-Niederland, you can get ready-to-eat quality products from the farm cheese dairy here. After a short way back along the same path, you branch off in the direction of Ennsmanngut. The focus here is on trout, their breeding and the products made from them. The fish are kept and cared for in the farm's own ponds. Continue on to the Reitbauer and if you prick up your ears you can hear from a distance which four-legged inhabitants are at home here. There is grumbling, because at the Reitbauer everything revolves around the goat. Now we hike into the Gföll, because the herb farm Lutzbauer awaits us as the next destination on the culinary round. Flowering medicinal herbs in the garden and numerous bunches of herbs hanging out to dry in the sun already proclaim the motto here. The two TEH practitioners have devoted themselves entirely to herbalism. The last culinary stop on this hike takes us back towards the centre to the Perchtbauer.
