The eastern part of the Saalachtaler Höhenweg tour is a beautiful hiking tour from the Asitz- or Steinberg top station in Leogang across several easy peaks to the Biberg mountain in Saalfelden. Although this tour takes several hours, it is perfectly suitable for families, due to little differences in altitude.
To finish off this tour with a bang, you can take the summer tobboggan run down to the valley.

Take the Asitzbahn cable car to the top of the mountain and walk on a ridgeway westward to the Großer Asitz mountain. From there, you continue in a southeasterly direction to Geierkogel, Lochalmköpfl and Durchenkopf and over Weikersbachköpfl and Schultersbachhöhe to the Berggasthof Biberg mountain restaurant.
Tip: Long but rewarding hike. There are stop-off points only at the beginning and at the end. Take enough food and drinks.
From the mountain restaurant Berggasthof Biberg you can hike down a forest trail to Berggasthof Huggenberg mountain restaurant. For the last part of the descent you have the opportunity to use the summer toboggan run.

BY CAR
From Saalfelden or St. Johann in Tirol drive on the B164 to Leogang. The valley station of the Asitzbahn cable car is located 4 km outside of Leogang in the direction of Hochfilzen. From here you take the cable car to the top station where the tour begins.
Return: From the valley station of the summer tobboggan run at the Biberg mountain in Saalfelden you can return to the Asitzbahn valley station in Leogang by the hikers' taxi (approx. 15 min).
