Description
The "Friedensstollen" (show gallery), closed in 1960, is the starting point of the mining trail. Along the trail, you can learn how lignite was mined in those days at original sites of Ratten mining with the help of boards.

The blue and white markings of the mining trail start at the mining museum - in addition, yellow boards with the inscription Mining Museum show the way.

Directions

We start at the mining museum in Ratten
Between the leisure center and the Red Cross we walk along to the New Middle School
From there we continue to the left to the Nikolauspfarrkirche (St. Nicholas Parish Church)
Then we continue to the oldest house of Ratten, to the inn Kreiner
On the municipal road we walk into the Niesnitzgraben and keep left
There we pass the horse farm Tösch and walk along this road until the end of the village
We keep to the right and turn onto the access road to the Ofenhofer farm (hiking trail 742a).
At the farm we walk along the forest road
At the edge of the forest there is a display board on the topic "Material ropeway support foundations
We hike uphill to the Eichtinger snack station, the highest point of the hike.
We follow the road to the Wetterkreuz crosses
We hike out of the valley, turn left and follow the slightly ascending path before we turn right again onto the gravel path

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at )

Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.

Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.

Camping and lighting fires are strictly forbidden in the forest!

In principle, every person is allowed to pick 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for personal use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

Tips

Also visit the mining museum in Ratten - a small museum in a former gallery, which fits perfectly with the mining trail!
