- Description
-
This challenging ascent is the most direct route from the Gersau village to the Rigi-Scheidegg vista plateau. Until 1873, Rigi guests were carried to the Rigi in carrying chairs or on horseback. Today, your energy level will be tested. On the road you will reach the Nielen bridge via Eggi. A steep mountain hiking trail then leads to Brand. Continue along a short stretch of road until you reach the Ober Gibel signpost. There you leave the mountain road to go steeply up again. Biregg, Breitaebnet, Obermatt, Windegg and Burggeist are the intermediate stops on your challenging summer hike. As soon as you reach your destination Rigi Scheidegg, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view for the exhausting ascent. You can take the Burggeist aerial cableway or the Kraebel aerial cableway back to the valley.
