- Description

As you leave the Suren valley floor after Sempach and Neuenkirch and slowly climb the flank of the Ruswilerberg, you understand where the tour’s name of Panoramic Route comes from. The views from here are incomparable. Rising above Littau and Malters is the extended flank consisting of the Schwandenegg, Blatterberg and Sonnenberg, which stands like a guardian in front of the Pilatus massif, thrusting mightily skywards. Calling to mind a beauty contest, the Pilatus stands alongside a chain of alpine peaks populating the horizon from left to right.
The route follows delightful trails and passes ancient farmsteads as it descends into the Rot valley to Buttisholz and Grosswangen. You return to the Suren valley and the idyllic shores of Lake Sempach via the Leidenberg, from where you can enjoy views of the lake that lies at the heart of our region.
