- Brief description
-
Turracher Höhe, located in the middle of the Nockberge mountains, is an idyllic high plateau at 1,763 m above sea level. Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee are framed by the peaks of the Nockberge mountains. And these are, after all, as high as 2,441 m (Eisenhut). Together with the largest contiguous Swiss pine forests in Austria, the ideal setting for any kind of exercise in nature awaits us on the Turracher Höhe.

- Description
-
The family-friendly circular trail on the Turracher Höhe leads to 3 lakes of different colors in the midst of Swiss stone pine and larch forests and is thus considered a special hiking tip in autumn. The starting point is at just under 1,800 m above sea level directly on the Turracher Höhe. Despite the altitude, it is a comfortable and decidedly family-friendly, well-signposted hiking trail that provides plenty of variety. Interesting theme boards and the largest rock crystals in the world (exhibited at alpin+art+gallery) complement this trail with attractive experience points.

Since the starting point is already at the top of the pass, we only have to cope with small differences in altitude. Already the beginning of the hike along the shore of the Turrachersee is charming. Afterwards, the giant mountain crystals exhibited in the open air are fascinating - and we should definitely plan a visit to the special exhibition "Petrified Trees". In the pine forest, the circular trail leads us to Grün See, which rightly bears its name.
A listening island and a platform over the lake make it easier for us to fully concentrate on nature with all our senses. After the Karl Hut on the onward trail to Schwarz See, we reach the tree line. At the foot of the Schober Riegel, we have a beautiful view of the surrounding Nockberge mountains as we continue on our way. The Schwarz See impresses with a picturesque view of the Eisenhut. Back we go on narrow footbridges over an interesting high moor and then again through pine forests back to the Turracher See.
