Description

The tour begins in the picturesque hamlet of Tarasp, Fontana. The hamlet lies directly below the castle and directly on the Lai da Tarasp, where you can marvel at a «moon», an art object by the castle's owner and artist Not Vital. From the bus stop, however, you walk away from Tarasp Castle in the direction of Butia, a small grocery shop. Continue past the Catholic church (Tarasp is the only Catholic village in the Lower Engadine) until you start the climb up to the right to Fontana, Sura. Keeping to the right, follow the path until you enter the forest and from here follow the path steadily in the direction of "Resgia Veglia" (old sawmill). At the sawmill you will see a small bridge over the little stream "Aua da Plavna", a beautiful place. Continue into the Val Plavna until you reach the destination «Chaldera» after about 3 km and take the path back to Tarasp, Fontana.

Directions

After the hamlet of Fontana, slightly uphill through the forest in the direction of Val Plavna to Resgia Veglia. Then somewhat steeper to below Alp Laisch. Return via the same route.
