Three watermills were built close to Krupa’s wellspring, 700 meters down the river flow – Mandića Watermill, Gužvica Watermill and Ljubičića Watermill, each named after the families who built them. Ljubičića Watermill, built in 1913, is the only one still working in the valley with Vinko Ljubičić being the “Last Miller of Krupa”. It’s common to meet him still milling. The oldest mill of Krupa is a Monastery Watermill built as late as 1317 The whole place is sweet to the divine and also the starting point of the tour down the canyon, so the visit is inevitable…fortunately. Down from monastery, the canyon gets fantastic. Krupa cut significant notch at the face of the earth, deep narrow canyon curving through the barren land completely out of the modern transport reach. To see the canyon, you must walk the canyon. And prologue with stories…love stories. Each location tells a love story of its own. Be it story of regret, grief or refusal, love is a leitmotive of Krupa

The terrain is mild, dominated by earthen paths intersected by talus of poorer quality – however, these stretches are not too long and do not dominate the trail.
