With the Snooc, you go off-road hiking with your friends and family. You discover new horizons, the mountains beyond the ski resorts. The Nebelhornbahn helps you to get to the Seealpe ski resort. The traditional large-cabin cable car - the name already tells us - leads to one of the highest peaks in the Allgäu Alps, the Nebelhorn. But to reach the summit, you have to change trains twice - we already use the first change at Seealpe station to get down - and toboggan down to the famous Allgäu winter sports resort. We also pass the "Erdinger Arena" - the ski jumping stadium below the Schattenbergschanze, which we can also visit.
- Directions
-
The Nebelhornbahn takes us comfortably up to the Seealpe station, where we also have the possibility to rent a toboggan. Our descent forces us to drive in a reasonable way - it is relatively steep and very curvy and follows the forest path from Seealpe down into the valley for long stretches.
Shortly after the turn-off "Cafè Breitenberg" the toboggan run signposting leads us to the right away from the road before we reach the finish together with the ski slope towards the end. Here we are not far from the Erdinger-Arena, the well-known ski stadium below the Schattenbergschanze. From here we still have about half a kilometre to walk to the valley station of the Nebelhorn cable car.
The possible ascent on foot is oriented towards the later descent by toboggan: At the ski jumping stadium we follow the signposts in the direction of "Seealpe", passing under the grandstand we reach some hairpin bends which offer us a wonderful view over Oberstdorf. The ascent route continues along the toboggan run - so be careful.
