Brief description

With only 450 altitude meters is this the "gentlest" of all stages of the Watzmann-Hochkönig Loop. It connects the two famous winter sports resorts, Ruhpolding and Inzell, before it leads via the Inzeller Höhe of the striking Staufen-Massiv around the north side.

Description

Continue from the Tourist Information at the train station to the roundabout. There, take the 2 nd exit towards “Gemeindewerke/Rettungsdienste” in the Waldbahnstraße, turn at the first left over a former railway bridge, continue right past the tennis hall and tennis courts to the Zeller Road. This is crossed at the Egglbrücke (bridge), then along the cycling trail continue to the right along the Traun River until it meets a small service road with private parking. Turn left here over the Traunbrücke (Bäckersteg bridge) and immediately turn right along a small watercourse, three small roads cross the golf course. At the end of the course after a bridge, the paved road begins which meets the Zeller Road. Turn left and immediately afterwards right, in the direction of “Infang/Rabenmoos”. The paved road ends after 2 km and the trail follows along a beautiful forest road along the small river Windbach, through the forest down to the farmsteads of Oberhausen. In addition to the picturesque farmsteads there is also a beautiful view of the Froschsee (lake) and behind the towering mountains of the Rauschberg. We now ride relatively comfortably, left next to a paved road, past the Kesselalm (cabin) to Inzell. After Vorderbichl, the route goes to the left of the Schmelzer Strasse (road) into the town. Turn left into the Trausteiner Strasse (street), at the bus station turn right through the underpass onto the Schwimmbadstrasse (street). At the swimming centre, turn left into the Lärchenstraße, then turn right into Kreuzfeldstraße, and then left towards the Brenner, and turn right to Teisenberg. Down the mountain and at the bottom, turn left into the Adlgaßerstraße. The paved road runs for about 1.5 km to Adlgaß (Inn and parking). In Adlgaß, the trail bears left, and we follow the Großwaldbach (stream) uphill. After around 1.7 km you can take a short detour of about 800m to the picturesque Frillensee Lake, which is the coldest lake in Germany. You continue on to Steineralm (managed in summer) which you reach after a further 2.8 km. Shortly before is the highest point on this section at 1,100m altitude. From here on, you head evenly downhill for 5km to Urwies. Now you follow the state road for a short way, cross over the motorway and arrive in Piding (1.8km). At the motorway before Piding, ride under the Salzburg road by taking the bike path along the Pidinger Ache (stream). Continue under the highway, up to the railway tracks, and again turn right to the railway crossing. Shortly after the railway crossing, turn right and continue straight down through the Au, on a footbridge cross the river Saalach and then straight ahead across the plain, to the underpass of the Reichenhaller Straße. After the underpass, we cycle slightly to the left of the road through the fields to Türk. After approx. 250 m, we turn left and ride towards Marzoll, with the church and the striking Castle Marzoll straight ahead in our sights.
