The Zugspitze region is a true dorado for winter sports enthusiasts, with its diverse mountain ranges, perfectly-groomed slopes, from the baby runs to the world-famous Kandahar and Olympia downhill runs in the Classic Area. What’s more, the Zugspitze Terrain Park on Germany’s highest mountain, which offers a line each for beginners and advanced in the kicker and rail area, also enjoys a great reputation throughout Europe. The area, which covers around three hectares, is available for use by pros and aspiring pros as soon as all the lift systems are open, usually from January onwards. Until then, enthusiasts can let off steam in the “small” fun park by the glacier lifts.
Skiers and boarders are free to use over 60 km of slopes, while the network of winter hiking trails extends over a further 100 km.
