Ski resort Champéry
The village Champéry (Valais) is situated on 1050meters/3445 feet on the feet of the Dents du Midi and the Dents Blanches. Champéry is one of the oldest tourist destinations in Switzerland. The history goes back to 1857. In this year the first hotel “L’hôtel de la Dent-du-Midi” opened. Today you can still admire the well preserved, traditional architecture of the village. Along the main street you will find many chalets with carved balconies and the „toits en sifflet“, the traditional roofs. This street charms its visitors with the small shops, bars, terraces and restaurants.
During the winter the cable car Champéry – Planachaux and the modern chairlift Grand-Paradis take you in less than 5 minutes directly into the Portes du Soleil. The Portes du Soleil are the largest internationally linked ski area of the world. Over 650km/400miles of pists make the skiers’ and boarders’ hearts beat faster. Moreover the Pas de Chavanette, which is also called the “Swiss Wall” is one of the most impressive slopes of the world.
