With its 18 mountain cableways and lifts, 34 km of slopes catering to all abilities and cosy huts, the winter sports resort of Brauneck, which lies a mere 60 km south of Munich, is a “ski eldorado” for the whole family. The traditional ski resort is situated near Lenggries, a typically Upper Bavarian village on the river Isar, which rises nearby.
The resort’s wide downhill runs, some of which extend over eight kilometres, are particularly popular. The speedy World Cup downhill route, “Garland”, is a true highlight for expert skiers. With a bit of luck, you’ll still see alpine skiers Hilde Gerg and Martina Ertl-Renz swish down past you on the slope, which has now been made slightly easier. They learnt their trade in Brauneck.
Those who aren’t yet so steady on their skis can choose from six certified skiing and snowboarding schools with equipment rental facilities and hone their technique.
The “Funny Villa“ and the “Kids Park” provide winter diversions for children from three years upwards. The good value ski pass offers with price scales for each age group make the ski resort of Brauneck the perfect location for a relaxed family skiing holiday.
The young and the young at heart get their money’s worth at Brauneck, too. The ever-popular floodlit night skiing to groovy music takes place from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 7-10 pm on the Streidlhang. Snow bars on the slopes invite skiers to partake of some warming, well-deserved refreshment.
In addition to alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snow shoe hiking and winter hiking is also possible in the popular winter sporting region.
The best place to enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding alpine landscape is on the large sun terrace at the resort’s panoramic restaurant, opened in 2005. Guests can even hire sun loungers for a small fee.
The winter sports resort of Lenggries offers its visitors a range of accommodation options, from holiday homes and farmhouse holidays to the comfortable 3-star hotel Four Points by Sheraton Brauneck, with rooms and suites furnished in Bavarian country house style.
